Step 1

Initial steps of the Application Process

  • Tailor Your Application: Ensure you meet the role’s requirements by carefully reviewing the job description.
  • Multiple Review Stages:  Your application will be assessed by both recruiters and potentially your future manager.
  • Showcase Your Skills: Prepare for phone or video interviews that look deeper into your qualifications.
  • Technical Expertise Evaluation (if applicable): Some roles may involve technical questioning to assess your skills against job requirements.
  • Psychometric Testing (if applicable):  For specific positions, you might participate in personality or skills assessments.  Your recruiter will guide you through this process.
  • Honesty is Key: Answer all questions honestly during the application stages, as evaluations aim to determine your suitability for the role.

Step 2

 Interview and Assessment

The final step typically involves an in-person interview. This will likely consist of a general discussion, a competency-based interview that looks deeper into your skills, and a technical assessment if relevant to the role. During this stage, you’ll meet your talent acquisition contact, hiring manager, and potentially other team members you could be working with. We believe it’s important for you to get a feel for the work environment by interacting with your potential colleagues upfront.

Depending on the position, you might be invited to an assessment center.  Clear instructions will be provided beforehand if this applies. Make sure you understand how you’ll be assessed and what’s expected of you. Don’t hesitate to ask clarifying questions if anything is unclear. Asking questions demonstrates your attentiveness and won’t negatively impact your evaluation.

 Step 3

Offer and Onboarding

If you make it through the selection process, Your recruiter will contact you with a verbal job offer, followed by a formal written offer if you accept.  Depending on your location, pre-employment screening might be required, which could involve verifying your education, work history, and references, along with your eligibility to work in the region. Don’t worry, you’ll be informed about this beforehand and given ample time to gather the necessary information.

Once you pass the screening, the onboarding process begins! This will ensure a smooth transition into your new role at BP.  Following your offer, they’ll stay in touch to keep you updated and prepare everything for your first day.  On your first day, you’ll meet your line manager and be introduced to a buddy – a colleague familiar with the ropes who can be a helpful resource if you have questions.
